Commenting

In my blog, instead of posting a new blog. I commented to my previous blog asking a question. I should have posted a new blog. When the blog is posting the times how do I make it the same time as my computer? My computer is set at the right time, but the posting says 10:42 a.m. when I actually posted it in the afternoon at 1:42 p.m. How do I correct this? Or can I?

Blogger's home is on the West Coast, therefore the default time is Pacific. You can change it to another time zone.

Once you log in to your account (Blogger calls it your Dashboard). Go to "Settings." Several tabs should appear across the top of the page. Choose the one that says "Formatting". You will see the place to change the time zone. Be sure to click "Save Settings" at the bottom of the page before continuing.

I'm not an expert, but I've worked with teachers and students to set up blogs. Let me know if I can help your efforts. One of the best tips I can give is to consider removing the "Next Blog" button from the top of the page.

Joe,
How do I remove the Next Blog from the top of the page?

Thanks for your help with the time. I got it corrected.

I only suggest this because it has been my experience that it is one of the first red flags teachers and administrators raise about the dangers of using Blogger. It is a legitimate concern. The "Next Blog" button can link you to any random content you might imagine. It can be quite a distraction to students, and quite a risk for teachers. A lot of schools block Blogger; I imagine Edublogs and Wordpress might be less controversial choices. I prefer Blogger for ease of use and dependability, so I work hard to keep it off the radar at my school.

Removing the 'next blog' button is a little tricky. If you need more help than this brief explanation, feel free to email me. I can send some screen shots.

This is a help blog that I made for a session I was teaching last fall. The directions are there.
